THE INSTITUT CATALÀ DEL PEU CONDUCTS A BIOMECHANICAL ANALYSIS TO THE CYCLIST PATRICIA ORTEGA.

Last week, the Institut Català del Peu, carried out a biomechanical assessment through its Biomechanical Department in the Sporting Performance to the cyclist Patricia Ortega from the UCI Massi-Tactoc ladies’ team.

The biomechanical assessment consisted of a progressive test of the effort in different Powers while the muscular response was assessed by muscular electromyography and the articular cinematics. Besides, during this test, we achieved other parameters of interest, like the power when somebody is in the beginning of the muscular fatigue.

The report of the results is examined by our team and our collaborator physiotherapists with the aim of assessing if there are faults or important muscular asymmetries in the results. Therefore, it is assessed with the staff, the weak points of the cyclist at a muscular level and how to approach in her training sessions the improvements of the physical faults. A key point of the first assessment is to have a comparative in case there is a lesion and, for the next assessment, to watch if it is possible to work the proposed improvements, like the development of the sportswoman, etc.

Our aim with the biomechanical assessments with the Massi-Tactic team is to  act as guarantor for the control of the performance and to be able to work in an objective way in case of possible lesions, prevention of lesions and an incentive to the improvement of the performance.
