THE INSTITUT CATALÀ DEL PEU CARRIES OUT A BIOMECHANICAL STUDY OF THE RACE TO PERE RULLÁN.

Pere Rullán was born on March the 27th of 1990 in the Sóller Valley, in the Majorca Island, and nowadays, he is settled in La Molina (La Cerdanya). As he well says, since he was a child, he was a tremendous enthusiast of sports which involved movement . . . He came into the world so as not to keep still! When we see his professional and sporting career, we really notice it is completely true. Nowadays, he combines his role of sporting technification as a manager  and also as a Catalan coach of mountain races with the role of mountain athlete. Furthermore, he has been the person responsible for sporting technification of young sportsmen/sportswomen by Catalonia’s mountain races, the yearly technification activities program in a semi presential format and the Selection of the best Catalan sportsmen/sportswomen in order to compete in a state level. This year, and without forgetting his results as a mountain athlete, he became Spain’s champion in upright kilometer in Ladrillar (Cáceres), in a very extremely hard race which had until 54% percentage in its trajectory and a way of 3,5 kilometers long and it slopes 1.015 positive meters. In his list of achievements there are great sporting successes but he always has been enjoying the races. We received him in the Institut Català del Peu, where we studied meticulously every detail in order to help him to know his biomechanics in the sporting gesture of the race technique with the aim of performing well 100% on trainings and competitive events. We carried out a strength event to analyze possible decompensations of legs, thighs and gluteus because they are the main features in the sporting gesture of the race. We analyzed with the most sophisticated 3D biomechanical technology different functional movements and the race technique at different speed and slopes, all this is synchronized with the muscular electromyography which measures the activation of the muscles when moving, in order to determine possible deficiencies in a muscular level, mobility and technique. It has been a pleasure to have in our installations a sportsman and person of such kind and we hope when he will carry out the second evaluative study, he will have been able to make an action plan which makes him easier to perfect the small  necessary adjustments in order to continue running for a long time and faster!
