THE INSTITUT CATALÀ DEL PEU TAKES PART IN THE TRAINING CONFERENCE ABOUT BIOMECHANICS OF THE CATALAN TENNIS FEDERATION.

The Institut Català del Peu on December the 3rd took part in the training conference about biomechanics to tennis trainers in the course of coaches which provides the Catalan Tennis Federation. The Institut Català del Peu, through Fitmetric, its Department of Biomechanics in the Sporting Performance, took part by second consecutive time in this training plan of the Catalan Tennis Federation. Fitmetric in this training, contributed the knowledge about the biomechanical parameters which can be measured in a biomechanical assessment of the technique in tennis, as well as to identify technical faults. The information we are talking about comes from the tests which were carried out to several tennis players in collaboration with the technical staff of the Catalan Tennis Federation with whom we made a report with the parameters of interest in the tennis technical gestures and the technical faults were identified as well. This conference is also about contributing knowledge on the new biomechanical technologies in tennis and providing them to the trainers, who expressed an opinion that furthermore it is about a different way of communication between the most technical part of the play and the part of the physical training. This kind of training allows that the preparation to the coaches is every time more open in a specialization level, giving rise to new profiles of trainers, new ways of communication with a player’s environment and new ways to help a tennis  player to make progress both in the play and the quality of the sportswomen and sportsmen. Biomechanics is more present in sport every time. Tennis is a sport in which biomechanics can provide a lot, not only when observing the technique but also when being able to help tennis players to identify the weak points both in a technical and a physical level and help them among all the training staff to get the necessary improvements. From the trainers are coached in biomechanics, at least with some notions specializing in tennis, it opens new ways to think about the aims with the tennis players, new ways to help them when they need something more, a new observation way . . . These trainings do one’s bit more to a new observation way, which is being introduced more every time, like the use of technologies of biomechanical analysis. Regarding this, the Catalan Tennis Federation has bet on it since the first time. Therefore, the biomechanics in these courses also involves  speaking from the most technological point of view in order to that the trainers will be able to learn to identify with discernment what biomechanics is, which technologies they can use and which kind of parameters  and  variables can be observed.
