Between Torrijos Street and San Juan Avenue, the  podiatrist Miguel Angel Baños from Gràcia neighborhood, combines the visits which makes the podiatric center located just above the Abacería market with the task he performs in the first place of Catalonia which has all the sanitary specialities which participate in the foot’s treatment.He is the promoter of the Institut Català del Peu (ICP), which was born as a product of the verification that the success in the cure or prevention of a patient who needs the interaction of different disciplines lies in a perfect communication among the different health professionals. By this reason, the therapeutic methodology of this center lies in the prevention, the diagnosis and the treatment of all kind of pathologies,   through the use of the most avant-garde technologies and always from a comprehensive perspective. “We have signed an agreement with different expert doctors to give support to treatments from several perspectives achieving in  this   way, to solve the problem more favorably”. And the also professor explains that in his office “come people who have visited five or six places where the doctors  have made very different diagnosis”. The Institute gives services in podiatric surgery, biomechanical surveys, dermatological alterations, labor podiatry, geriatric podiatry or children’s podiatry. Doctor Baños emphasizes that “we have filled an empty space because there isn’t any center in Catalonia which covers so easily  the different kinds of treatments”. The ICP has also a pedagogical aim and it gives courses, lectures or prevention programs addressed to all the professionals of health. Needless to say that this center wants to become pioneer in the spreading of the foot’s knowledge which allows to mitigate the risks because the foot has always been the basis of the body welfare. As Doctor Baños says, “an alteration in foot has an effect in the rest of the articulations of the body”. The podiatrist keeps open his first office in Torrijos Street as an office of the neighborhood: “After 25 years of monitoring, you can not disappear, I am still here most of the days of the week and I only  go to the ICP two or three days a week”.
